Archbishop Daniel Okoh, CAN President
A youthful human rights group, Stayalert Human Rights Awareness Initiative, has lauded the courage of the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, for his positions on the continued insecurity challenges in the country.
The group, in a statement signed in Owerri by its Executive Director, Lady Onah, and Chief Isidore Nwadike, Director of Communication, highlighted Archbishop Okoh’s courage, clarity, and foresight in steering CAN through national crises.
The statement read: “History shows that courageous leadership often determines whether an association descends into chaos or survives the storm. Archbishop Daniel Okoh has demonstrated capacity, excellence, transparency, humility, and boldness to speak against evils in the country as CAN President.”
“Stayalert Human Rights Awareness Initiative, which promotes human rights values and seeks redress for victims of human rights abuses in Nigeria, passed a vote of confidence on Archbishop Okoh, celebrating his unwavering faith, passion, and service to the nation.”
The group also commended Archbishop Okoh’s speech during the meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), where he condemned violence in Nigeria and called on religious leaders to encourage citizens to shun violence, emphasising the importance of peace, love, unity, justice, and accountability for perpetrators of violence.
