A substantial audience tuned in to watch Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua on Netflix this past Friday.
According to a release from Netflix, 33 million viewers globally turned in to watch the main event “from opening to closing bell.” Addtionally, the event ranked in the Netflix Top 10 in 91 countries and first overall in 45 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia, Mexico, and Argentina.
That falls short of Paul’s last appearance on Netflix, when his November 2024 fight against Mike Tyson drew a reported 60 million viewers — including 38 million in the U.S. alone. It also ranks slightly behind the championship fight between Terrance Crawford and Canelo Alvarez this past September, which had an audience of 36.6 million for the main event and 41.4 million for the event as a whole.
Joshua defeated Paul via sixth-round stoppage a, breaking the YouTube personality turned boxer’s jaw in the process. Though the fight was slow to begin, with Paul either on his bicyle or looking to force clinches, the much larger Joshua gradually imposed his will. The event also set a record for the highest grossing boxing gate in the Kaseya Center history, per the release.
According to estimates from EverPass, approximately 600,000 viewers watched the fight in bars, restaurants, casinos and other hospitality locations throught the nation. Netflix also states that the clip of Joshua knockout out Paul has more than 214 million impressions across Netflix social channels, making it the best-performing clip ever from a live event on the streaming service.
