People gathered to receive bags of rice
By CHIEDU UCHE OKOYE
The Eric Anyamene Foundation (ENAF), founded by Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene, a seasoned IT Engineer, Project Manager, and Technocrat turned philanthropist and impactful politician, has unveiled an expansive and people-focused Yuletide intervention aimed at ensuring that residents of Idemili North and Idemili South Local Government Areas of Anambra State celebrate the 2025 Christmas season with joy, dignity, and renewed hope.
Widely regarded as a grassroots advocate with deep roots in the Idemili communities, Engr. Anyamene has, over the years, earned the admiration of many for his hands-on approach to leadership, community service, and inclusive development. Through ENAF, he has consistently demonstrated that leadership is not merely about holding positions but about touching lives, uplifting the vulnerable, and standing firmly with the people at the grassroots.
This year’s Christmas programme of the Foundation is built around a three-pronged humanitarian intervention carefully designed to address the material, spiritual, and health needs of the people during the Yuletide season. The initiatives include a massive food distribution exercise, a large-scale prayer and praise programme, and a comprehensive free medical outreach.
At the heart of the intervention is the distribution of over 5,000 bags of rice in different sizes—10kg, 25kg, and 50kg—across all the 17 towns and 24 wards of Idemili North and South LGAs. The initiative is targeted at alleviating the economic pressures faced by families during the festive period and ensuring that no household is left out of the joy and symbolism of Christmas.
The rice distribution exercise commenced on December 17, 2025, with ENAF teams moving into communities such as Ogidi, Nkpor, and Obosi Urban, where beneficiaries received the food items directly within their localities. The Foundation adopted a ward-by-ward and town-by-town approach to guarantee equity, transparency, and effective reach across the entire Idemili axis.
The execution of the programme is being coordinated by a committed ENAF team led by Mrs. Hope Nchee Egwu, an American returnee and indigene of Obosi, whose organizational skill and dedication have been instrumental to the smooth implementation of the Foundation’s activities.
“We are determined to get this right. The people deserve nothing less than excellence, and personally, I have a strong dislike for failure,” Mrs. Nchee Egwu remarked, reflecting the ethos driving the Foundation’s operations.
In addition to material support, the Eric Anyamene Foundation has placed strong emphasis on spiritual renewal, recognizing the central role of faith in the lives of the people. To this end, ENAF will host a Praise and Prayer Night on December 26, 2025, at the Obosi Township Stadium. The programme is expected to draw worshippers from across Idemili and beyond, with the aim of rekindling faith, restoring hope, and reaffirming the power of prayer in addressing personal and societal challenges.
Furthermore, the Foundation will conduct a two-day free medical outreach at the Obosi Primary Healthcare Centre, Afor-Adike, scheduled for December 27 and 28, 2025. The outreach is targeted at elderly citizens, children, and indigent adults who lack access to affordable healthcare. Free consultations, basic treatments, and essential medical services will be provided to beneficiaries as part of ENAF’s commitment to improving community health and well-being.
Speaking on the motivation behind the Yuletide programmes, Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene emphasized that his actions are guided by humanity, empathy, and a deep understanding of the true meaning of Christmas.
“I am driven by love for my people and a strong sense of responsibility,” Anyamene said.
“Christmas is a season of compassion, gratitude, and shared humanity. God has blessed me, and I believe strongly that those blessings must translate into tangible support for the people, especially at a time like this.”
Many community leaders and beneficiaries have commended the initiative, describing it as a clear reflection of Engr. Anyamene’s grassroots connection and people-oriented leadership style. They noted that the scale and inclusiveness of the programme set it apart as one of the most impactful privately driven humanitarian interventions in Idemili in recent times.
With its reach spanning every town and ward of Idemili North and South, the 2025 Christmas programmes of the Eric Anyamene Foundation reaffirm Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene’s growing reputation as a technocrat with a human face, a philanthropist with a listening ear, and a grassroots leader deeply committed to the welfare and progress of his people.
