Kaduna State Chief Judge, Justice MTM Aliyu
By SANI IDRIS ABDULRAHMAN
The Kaduna State Judicial Service Commission (JSC), has announced the suspension of two registrars over alleged misconduct.
The announcement is contained in a statement issued by Murtala Halidu, Secretary of the JSC, on Thursday in Kaduna.
Halidu said the action was part of administrative and disciplinary decisions taken during the JSC Tuesday’s meeting, chaired by Justice M.T.M. Aliyu, the Chief Justice of the State.
He said the commission approved the disciplinary action against the erring staff after adopting findings and recommendations of investigations conducted by the Judicial Staff Service Committee involving staff.
He, therefore, said Iliya Awok, an Assistant Chief Registrar, was suspended for falsification of records, which amounted to serious misconduct.
He added that Mohammed Salisu-Mohammed, a Principal Court Registrar at the Chief Magistrate Court, Daura Road, was suspended for unauthorised auction of three attached vehicles and other serious misconduct.
Halidu equally said the commission reduced the rank of Sanusi Musa, a Higher Administrative Officer, for publishing politically charged articles on Facebook in disregard of public service neutrality.
He added that the commission approved the interdiction of Aliyu Yakubu-Dogara, a Deputy Chief Registrar, and Salisu Maigana, a Court Bailiff.
Halidu explained that the interdiction followed their involvement in unauthorised auction of court-attached vehicles pending further investigation into their level of involvement.
He said a petition against Saidu Babanja’e, Presiding Judge of the Principal District Court, Daura Road, Kaduna, was dismissed for being unsubstantiated.
Halidu said the commission reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy for corruption and indiscipline within the judiciary.
He added that the commission remained committed to upholding integrity, discipline, and the highest standards in the judicial service.
Meanwhile, the statement said the JSC had confirmed the appointment of Gladys Nathan as the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Customary Court of Appeal in Kaduna State. (NAN)
