Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully neutralised a group of Boko Haram terrorists and intercepted a large consignment of supplies during a coordinated night ambush around Komala, in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

Zagazola Makama was reliably informed that the operation was executed by frontline troops who had been conducting aggressive fighting patrols along suspected terrorist supply corridors.

The sources said the troops laid an ambush following intelligence that Boko Haram/ISWAP elements were transporting essential goods purchased from Jakana, Benisheik and Ngamdu, and were attempting to move them into the Sambisa Forest through the Timbuktu Triangle.

“At about midnight, our troops made contact with the terrorists as they approached Komala axis,” one of the sources said.

“In the brief but fierce firefight that ensued, several of the insurgents were neutralised, while the rest fled with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered the items they were transporting, believed to be foodstuff, fuel and other logistics meant for their fighters in Sambisa.”

The source added that the swift action of the troops disrupted a major resupply attempt, dealing another blow to the terrorists’ logistics network.

The sources said the recovered items had been evacuated to the military formation for profiling and further investigation, while pursuit operations are ongoing to track fleeing elements.

The source reaffirmed the troops’ commitment to dominating the battlespace and denying terrorists freedom of movement within the state, noting that similar ambushes and targeted operations would continue across identified routes.
