Ex-KANO STATE PCACC Chairman, Barr Muhuyi
Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has released the former Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, hours after he was arrested in Kano on Friday and taken to Abuja for questioning.
Rimingado, who was picked up at his law firm along Zaria Road by operatives believed to be from the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, confirmed his release on Saturday.
Speaking shortly after regaining freedom, he disclosed that he is expected to return to Abuja on Monday to finalize his bail conditions.
According to Rimingado, he was informed by investigators that two petitions were filed against him — one by former Kano State Governor and immediate past APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and another by former Managing Director of the Kano State Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), Alhaji Bala Inuwa.
Ganduje’s petition reportedly accuses Rimingado of malicious prosecution in relation to the state government’s equity in the Dala Inland Dry Port, which he alleged was converted by the former governor and his sons.
On his part, Bala Inuwa alleged that properties confiscated from him through a court process during Rimingado’s tenure at the anti-graft agency were wrongfully disposed of.
Meanwhile, both the KASCO case and the Dala Inland Dry Port equity matter are said to be pending before competent courts of jurisdiction.
Rimingado’s arrest and release come amid heightened political and legal tensions surrounding past anti-corruption investigations in Kano. (Saturday Tribune)
