11 farmers abducted in Southern Kaduna

Tension has gripped Ungwan Nungu community in Bokana Ward, Sanga LGA of Kaduna State, after gunmen abducted 11 residents returning from their farms on Saturday.

The victims were ambushed along a bush path near the village and taken to an unknown location.

A resident said about 15 people were initially targeted, but some escaped while others were later released.

Eleven remain in captivity, with the abductors reportedly demanding N5 million.

He added that some victims were teenagers harvesting beans when they were seized.

Hon. Daniel Amos, the member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, confirmed the incident in a statement, describing the attack as “cruel and senseless.”

He condemned the targeting of peaceful farmers and urged residents to remain calm and avoid panic or self-help measures that could worsen the situation.

Amos called on security agencies to intensify surveillance, strengthen intelligence gathering and launch a coordinated rescue operation. (Daily Trust)
