The Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Nigeria, says it will commence its final outdoor field training exercise codenamed “EXERCISE UBIAK-ISIN’ for the students of Junior Course 100 of 2025.
The college’s Public Relations Officer, Lt.-Col. Victor Olukoya, announced in a statement issued on Friday in Kaduna, advising the neighbouring communities to steer clear of the area.
Olukoya said the exercise has been scheduled to take place from Monday to Friday, in Wusono – Kazaure – Aguwan Loya and Camp Salaya General area of Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
According to him, the exercise is designed to assess Student Officers’ leadership skills, physical fitness, Command and Control capabilities as well as application and critical knowledge of tactics.
“The student officers will also be tested in unconventional warfare, application of critical thinking as well as Counter Terrorist and Counter Insurgency operations in view of the current contemporary security challenges.
“Consequently, communities living around the general area of Igabi Local Government Area in Kaduna State are enjoined not to panic on seeing mass movement of military personnel, vehicles and equipment as well as hearing sounds of explosives and small arms,” he said.
Olukoya said that all the necessary preventive measures have been put in place for general security and safety of the area, urging the public to keep off the vicinity of the exercise area during the period.
“Importantly, locals in the general areas mentioned are advised to go about their normal routine activities and report any breach of security to the nearest authority.
“We wish to appeal for cooperation from the local communities directly affected by the exercise and Nigerians as a whole as we train military leaders for our Armed Forces.
“You are please requested to use your medium to enlighten the public, particularly the inhabitants of the aforementioned areas, “Olukoya said. (NÀN)
