It was a scene of mild drama at the Anambra State House of Assembly early Tuesday morning as a suspended member of the House, Mr Bernard Udemezue representing Ayamelum Constituency was walked out of the Chambers with security.

Udemezue was suspended for three months following accusations by the lawmakers over a post he allegedly made on social media, which was said to be damaging and unparliamentary.

A committee that was set up to look into the matter subsequently recommended that he should not be seen within the Assembly environment for the period of his suspension.

However, Udemezue stormed the Assembly Chambers on Tuesday to be part of the budget presentation by the State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, but was rebuffed.

The House leadership also went upstairs at the gallery and walked out all of his supporters that had accompanied him to the plenary.

According to them, the suspended lawmaker did not follow due process after his three months suspension elapsed.

The drama ensued when the Deputy Speaker, Mr Chukwuma Okoye, and the Member representing Oyi Constituency, Mr Innocent Ojike, approached the suspended lawmaker and accompanied him out of the Chamber in company of security personnel.

Udemezue in his defence claimed that he followed due process and had submitted necessary letters for resumption to the appropriate authorities before his appearance.

The security operatives however insisted and walked him to the new legislative building, where he was said to be detained.
