Reps Speaker, Tajudeen
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Right Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has appealed to the Kebbi State Government to rename the Government Science Girls Secondary School, Maga, in honour of the slain Vice Principal who lost his life while protecting students during a recent abduction incident.
Tajudeen made the plea on Monday during a sympathy visit to Birnin Kebbi, where he was accompanied by several prominent lawmakers, including members of the state’s delegation to the House of Representatives.
The Speaker expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and assured the people of Kebbi that the National Assembly was working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students.
“Our hearts go out to you as we share in your pains at this difficult time,” he said. “Parents and relatives of the affected victims are in sorrow. We therefore announce the donation of N30 million to the families of the Vice Principal and other staff killed in the process of the abduction.”
Responding, Governor Nasiru Idris thanked the lawmakers for the visit and their support. He also confirmed that the request to rename the school after the heroic Vice Principal had already been approved by the state government. (Nigerian Tribune)
