Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating under Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested a suspected kidnapper, Umar Musa Geyi, believed to be a notorious gang member involved in multiple abductions across Taraba State.
A security source told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, was already on the wanted list of security agencies, was apprehended on Friday at Jandeikula in Wukari Local Government Area following credible intelligence.
The source said preliminary findings linked Geyi to the abduction of a Fulani community member, Alhaji Jano, who was kidnapped on Nov. 13 in the Jandeikula General Area and remains in captivity.
According to the source, troops intercepted the suspect after discovering that he had made a phone call to an accomplice, during which he confirmed that the victim was still being held and demanded a ransom of N20 million for his release.
Zagazola learnt that the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation at the Nigerian Army’s Forward Operating Base (FOB), Wukari, as efforts intensify to locate the victim and secure his rescue.
The source added that troops of 6 Brigade under Operation Whirl Stroke have expanded their operations under Operation ZAFIN WUTA in the area to track down other members of the kidnapping gang and dismantle their networks. (Zagazola)
