6 Brigade launches OP ZAFIN WUTA to crush bandits in southern Taraba

Brig-Gen Uwa addressing Wukari residents

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, has officially launched Operation Zafin Wuta, a decisive clearance operation aimed at flushing out bandits and criminal elements responsible for killings, displacement, and destruction of livelihoods in Wukari and Takum Local Government Areas of Taraba State.

The new operation follows recent attacks and violent clashes that led to loss of lives, burning of communities, and displacement of residents, turning parts of Southern Taraba into a growing humanitarian concern. Speaking on the mission, Brigadier General Uwa stated that the Nigerian Army is fully prepared to neutralize all perpetrators of violence and restore lasting peace to affected communities. He disclosed that in order to intensify response and maintain consistent operational pressure, the Brigade Headquarters has been temporarily relocated to Southern Taraba until stability and citizens’ confidence are fully restored.

As part of his operational engagement, the Commander paid a strategic courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, The Aku Uka of Wukari, King Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, the supreme traditional ruler of the Kwararafa Kingdom. Brigadier General Uwa explained that the visit was to seek royal blessings, deepen collaboration, and strengthen community cooperation in support of ongoing clearance operations. He emphasized the indispensable role of traditional institutions in peacebuilding, intelligence gathering, and community mobilization against criminal activities.

In a demonstration of humanitarian support aligned with the security measures, the Commander was accompanied by the Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Echuseh Audu, who delivered food and non-food relief materials to displaced citizens on behalf of the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas. The relief intervention is intended to cushion the suffering of victims affected by recent violence and to support emergency stabilization efforts in the region.

In his remarks, the Aku Uka lauded the Nigerian Army for its professional conduct and sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property. He pledged total support to the 6 Brigade and urged communities to cooperate by providing credible information that will assist security agencies in tracking perpetrators and preventing further bloodshed.

Operation Zafin Wuta marks a renewed and coordinated multi-stakeholder effort to ensure peace, justice, and security across Southern Taraba, combining military precision, humanitarian support, and traditional leadership collaboration to restore order and bring enduring peace to Wukari, Takum, and surrounding communities.
