A Warri resident, Uche David Igbenoba, has escaped from suspected members of an illegal oil bunkering syndicate less than 24 hours after he was abducted in broad daylight on 4 February, 2025.

Igbenoba confirmed the incident in a statement and said he has reported the matter to the Nigeria Police for investigation.

Igbenoba stated that the kidnappers assaulted him and accused him of being the informant responsible for a recent government operation that dismantled one of their bunkering sites in the Niger Delta.

The attackers allegedly identified themselves as members of the affected illegal operation.

Igbenoba managed to escape from captivity in the early hours of the following morning. (Blueprint)
