Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Monday condemned the abduction of students from Government Girls? Comprehensive Secondary School, GGCSS, Maga, in Kebbi State, and a separate attack in Fegin Baza village, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State, which left several dead and scores abducted.

In a post on his X handle, Obi described the incidents as ?devastating and unacceptable,? expressing sympathy to the families of the abducted students, the deceased, and affected communities.

?My heart is heavy as I receive the heartbreaking news from Kebbi and Zamfara. Entire communities are living in fear; schools, safe havens for learning, are now vulnerable targets. Families are being torn apart, and innocent lives are being destroyed. This is not the Nigeria we should accept,? Obi wrote.

He called on all levels of government to intensify security efforts, overhaul the nation?s security architecture, ensure the safe rescue of the abducted girls, and prevent further attacks on schools and communities.

Obi prayed for the safe return of the abducted students, the repose of the deceased, and strength for the bereaved families. ?Nigeria must do better. Our children deserve safety, and our people deserve peace,? he added. (Daily Post)
