Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has assured parents of the abducted students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area, that the state government is fully committed to securing the safe return of their children.

The governor gave the reassurance on Monday November 17th, 2025, during a visit to Maga, where he met with security agencies, traditional rulers, parents of the abducted schoolgirls, and other key stakeholders. Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, Idris condemned the attack, describing it as “deeply unfortunate” and a painful moment for the entire state.

He confirmed that 25 schoolgirls were abducted in the attack, which also claimed the life of the school’s Vice Principal. Security operatives, he said, were already intensifying efforts to track down the perpetrators and ensure the safe release of the abducted children.

“The unfortunate incident has already occurred, and we came to see things for ourselves,” the governor stated. “We met with the parents whose children were abducted to give them confidence and to assure them that we will do everything possible to ensure the safe rescue of their children.”

Governor Idris emphasized that his visit was aimed at restoring hope and providing emotional support to the affected families. He urged them to remain calm and confident, assuring them that security agencies were “doing the needful” to resolve the situation.

“That is the essence of coming to Maga,” he added. “To support our people, give them encouragement, and strengthen their hope.”

The government has called for cooperation from residents, urging them to provide useful information to aid the rescue efforts.
