
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has bid farewell to 350 postgraduate students sponsored by the State Government to pursue higher studies abroad.
The students, part of the 1,001 Postgraduate Foreign and Domestic Scholarship Scheme, are set to commence their programs in India, Uganda, and Malaysia.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in Kano, on Thursday.
Yusuf expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills the students acquire abroad would contribute positively to the development of Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
Addressing the students at the point of their departure in Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Governor Yusuf urged them to take their studies seriously, emphasizing that the scholarship is both a privilege and a responsibility to excel academically.
He also admonished them to serve as good ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and values of the state and country while abroad. The Governor prayed for their success and safe return upon completion of their studies.
Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in the intellectual capital of Kano’s youth and assured the departing students of the government’s continued support and guidance throughout their academic journey.
The Governor was flanked during the event by his Deputy and Commissioner for Higher Education, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo; the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Isma’il Jibril Falgore
Others are the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim; Chief of Staff, Dr. Suleiman Wali Sani (mni); members of the State Executive Council; other government officials; and parents of the benefiting students. (Daily Trust)
