The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC is again delighted to announce the coming into the party by one of Governor Dauda Lawal’s major campaign sponsors, Alhaji Bashir Adamu Imad, the MD/CEO of Imad Petroleum Nigeria Ltd.

The APC Publicity Secretary, Comrade Yusuf Idris Gusau disclosed this in a statement issued to Journalists in Gusau.

According to him, Alh Imad, as he is popularly known in many circles, personally met the Zamfara State APC leader and Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle in Abuja to announce his defection from the PDP.

He quoted lack of focus and poor leadership which are very essential in the provision of lasting dividends of democracy as part of the major reasons he had to part ways with the PDP and assured to have migrated along with hundreds of his PDP card carrying followers to the APC.

He also admitted that PDP in Zamfara has already failed the citizens considering the non fulfilment of campaign promises and the lack of leadership qualities of governor Dauda Lawal in handling the affairs of the state.

He further said that he learned about the visit of the minister to Zamfara State that is why he decided to come and join APC before the Minister’s visit so that he can be acknowledged as APC card carrying member before the day.

Alh Imad explained that a lot of PDP big wigs will join APC soon in Zamfara State.

He said that APC leadership in Zamfara under Minister Matawalle and Abdulaziz Yari is uniting the party into a formidable one that every politician will appreciate and build his confidence of the party victory come 2027.

Imad, a business tycoon, a former gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 elections under ADC, and the chairman Imad Petroleum Company with filling stations across Nigeria, today abandoned PDP and joined the party of the Progressives.

Responding, the APC leader and immediate past governor of the state, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle expressed gratitude to God for bringing into the APC such big shots as Imad whose legacy cuts across the whole state and beyond.

Matawalle emphasised that with more leaders and their followers joining the APC from other opposition parties, especially the ruling PDP in Zamfara, the APC is definitely heading towards reclaiming its stolen mandate in the state in 2027.

He said that while the party will organise a befitting reception for Imad and his supporters, they are already bonafide members and will be treated equally with all other members without segregation.

The defection of Imad further confirms the fears being expressed by the PDP in the state over Matawalle, Yari, and other APC leaders, which are attracting more new entrants into the APC. We congratulate and welcome Imad and all his followers into our fold. (SUN)
