Army renews commitment to protecting facilities of multinationals operating in Niger Delta




?The Nigerian Army 6 Division, Rivers State, has restated its commitment to protecting officials and facilities of multinational oil companies operating in the Niger Delta region.

?General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigeria Army, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, made the commitment at the inauguration of three new hospital wards built by ?TotalEnergies (EP) Nigeria Limited in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) at the 6 Division Nigeria Army Medical Centre in Port Harcourt.

?Major General Emekah acknowledged the relationship between the company and the Command which he said has contributed significantly to peace, stability, and development within their area of responsibility.

He also appreciated TotalEnergies for the gestures, saying it reflects the company's corporate social responsibility values, stressing that the facility symbolises hope for the soldiers and their families.

?"I wish to categorically assure you that 6 Division Headquarters will take every necessary step to sustain and deepen this relationship. We will continue to provide unrelenting security support to safeguard your operations, facilities, and personnel.

?"6 Division remains fully committed to promoting a safe and secure environment for all strategic partners in the Niger Delta region," he said.

?While charging medical personnel of the command to maximize the new facility, he stated that the facility would enhance the performance of the soldiers.

?"The facility is a symbol of hope, care, and compassion for our officers, soldiers, and their families. The facility will enhance our capacity to deliver quality medical care to personnel and dependents," Emekah added.

?The Managing Director/ Country Chair of TotalEnergies, Mr Matthieu Bouyer while inaugurating the hospital block, restated the company's commitment to the welfare of the Nigerian Army.

?He said the company recognises that while the soldiers fight with distinction to protect its facilities and the territorial integrity of the country, their lives and their families well-being are paramount.

?Bouyer said the provision of the health facility points to the company's core value on safety, adding that the facility is meant to provide a safe environment for soldiers and their families in time of need.

?The TotalEnergies MD praised the partnership between the company and the army division which he attributes to the successful completion of the facility.

?He said: "This new facility is intended to provide a safe and supportive environment for soldiers and their families in times of need. I want to emphasize that this achievement is a shared one-together, we have accomplished something remarkable. Your partnership, trust, and openness have made this possible, and we are grateful for the opportunity to stand with you".
