The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued a 14-year-old boy during an operation in Ka’oje, Bagudo Local Government Area of the State.
A statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, said a gang of five armed men invaded the residence of one Alhaji Buda Sambo, 55, at Sire Here village and kidnapped his son, Aliyu Alhaji Buda.
“Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ka’oje mobilized a combined team of police officers and local vigilantes that trailed the abductors to Sada forest where they engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle, forcing the suspects to flee into the deep forest with possible gunshot injuries.”
It added that two suspects, identified as Aliyu Alhaji Shehu (alias Altine), 25, and Abubakar Umar (alias Bube) were apprehended during the operation, while the kidnapped boy was rescued unhurt. He was later reunited with his family after undergoing medical examinations.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the abduction along with other accomplices still at large, identified as Dogo, Magaji, Bande, and Janyo.
“They also admitted to another kidnapping incident on October 28, 2025, in which a 70-year-old man, Alhaji Alti, was abducted.
“A search conducted at the residence of one of the suspects led to the recovery of a locally made revolver pistol and one live ammunition,” it stated.
The statement also noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, had directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation and to ensure the arrest of the fleeing gang members. (Daily Trust)
