2027: Hausa-Fulani PDP chiefs in Jos reconcile, throw weight behind Governor Mutfwang

A major step toward political reconciliation and ethnic harmony has been achieved in Plateau State as the Hausa-Fulani bloc within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jos North Local Government Area has closed ranks and declared total loyalty to Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

After years of internal rifts that weakened their cohesion within the party, the group announced on Tuesday that it had resolved all lingering disputes and would henceforth work as a united front under the PDP umbrella, fully aligned with Mutfwang’s administration and vision for an inclusive Plateau.

In a communiqué signed by the PDP Hausa–Fulani Reconciliation Committee and chaired by Alhaji Bello Nakande, the group said the new peace marks a decisive turning point for the Hausa-Fulani in Plateau politics. Nakande noted that through a series of constructive engagements and trust-building sessions, members have now reconciled “in the spirit of brotherhood, cooperation, and shared destiny,” adding that the community sees Governor Mutfwang as a bridge-builder who has restored confidence among diverse groups across the state.

The communiqué commended the immediate past PDP Chairman, Hon. Chris Adakuchili Hassan, and his executive for their role in reclaiming power for the PDP in 2023 and lauded the emergence of Hon. Raymond Dabo as the new state chairman. It also dismissed opposition propaganda alleging that Dabo was a convicted person, affirming that he had been “cleared and acquitted by a competent court of law.”

Most notably, the group reaffirmed its unflinching support for Governor Caleb Mutfwang, describing his administration as people-oriented, development-driven, and committed to justice, peace, and reconciliation.

“We, the Hausa-Fulani members of the PDP in Jos North, have resolved to work hand-in-hand with Governor Mutfwang to consolidate the unity and progress of Plateau State. Our loyalty to the PDP and to the governor’s leadership is total,” the communiqué read.

The statement concluded with a pledge to mobilize support across communities to ensure Mutfwang’s re-election in 2027, vowing that the new spirit of reconciliation will translate into overwhelming victories for the PDP in all future political contests.
