The Commander of the Anti-Phone Snatching Illicit Drugs Protection Squad in Kano State, Inuwa Salisus Sharada, has been murdered by unknown killers.

He was killed in his home on Tuesday night and was buried by Thursday in Sharada area of the state capital.

His funeral was attended by top government officials and sundry sympathizers, among which was the Governor of Kano State, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf.

A statement by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Kano State, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Friday, said the Governor described his death as a huge loss to the state’s security architecture.

Yusuf, the statement stated, lamented that his death has created a setback to the current fight against phone snatching in the state.

“The death of Officer Inuwa is a painful reminder of the risks our gallant security personnel face daily in their duty to protect the people. He died in active service, defending the peace of Kano.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to support all security agencies in the fight against phone snatching, thuggery, and other forms of criminality, stressing that his government will not tolerate acts of lawlessness or allow criminal gangs to terrorize innocent citizens.

“We will not fold our arms while a few misguided individuals attempt to hold our state hostage. We will continue to provide the necessary support and ensure that justice is served,” he assured.

The Governor also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities in their communities.

“When you see something, say something — together we will reclaim our streets and safeguard our future,” he emphasized. (The Sun)
