The Lagos State Government said it has rescued a mentally-unstable woman who reportedly attempted to file a complaint against the sun at the Panti Police Station.

The government, in a statement via its official X handle on Tuesday, said the Ministry of Youth and Social Development’s rescue team acted on a distress report about the woman, who was well-dressed but behaved unusually.

The statement read, “According to information gathered, the woman, who was described as well-dressed, had taken an Uber ride from Lekki to the Panti Police Station, where she reportedly attempted to file a complaint against the sun.

“She was subsequently rescued and taken to one of the Lagos State–owned rehabilitation centres, where she is currently receiving the necessary medical and psychological care to aid her recovery.”

Photos shared in the announcement show the woman, whose face has been blurred for privacy, standing calmly beside a ministry vehicle and next to her luggage under a tree.

She appears composed, dressed in a dark jacket, a short skirt, knee-high socks, and carrying bags.

The state Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, commended the Rescue Team for their prompt and professional response after the case was brought to the ministry’s attention through Instagram.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, urged members of the public to promptly report any life-threatening situation or incident that could endanger individuals.

She reiterated the ministry’s “See Something, Say Something” policy and encouraged residents to contact the government.

The rescue comes amid growing concerns about mental health support in Nigeria, where access to services remains limited in many regions.

Lagos State has been actively promoting awareness and intervention programmes to address such vulnerabilities. (The PUNCH)
