Arsenal star Viktor Gyokeres has been one of the best players in the world for club and country over the last two years.
The striker was unbelievable during his time at Sporting CP, scoring 97 goals in 102 games and winning back-to-back Portuguese league titles
Those numbers convinced Arsenal to sign Gyokeres, but many people have mocked the Swede because his goals came in an inferior league.
Viktor Gyokeres’ best attribute is scoring goals.
The Sweden international has been producing incredible numbers since his time at Coventry City, and his output for his national team is not bad either.
In 29 appearances for the Blågult, Gyokeres has scored 15 goals, and the Nations League has been his favourite competition.
Nine of those 15 goals came in the most recent campaign, which is a terrific record and one that beats everyone else.
Even Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland didn’t manage to score that many – the two superstars finished second and third respectively, behind Gyokeres.
Ahead of Sweden’s World Cup qualifier against Switzerland, UEFA honoured the Arsenal striker by giving him an award for finishing the Nations League campaign as the top scorer.
Gyokeres was Sweden’s best player in the Nations League.
The 27-year-old was lethal in front of goal and often outperformed Alexander Isak, who was widely regarded as the best striker in the world last season.
Out of Gyokeres’ nine goals in the competition, eight came from open play, and all of them were scored from inside the box.
That tells you that Arsenal’s players should try to find Gyokeres inside the box at every opportunity.
When the Swede receives service and has a bit of space near the goal, he finds the back of the net more often than not.
Arsenal players are still adapting to the way Gyokeres plays. Once they do and provide him with the service he needs, the goals will come. (Arsenal Insider)
