Police Service Commission unveils whistleblowing policy, to test policy with POLAC admission process

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has flagged off a policy of whistleblowing on the recruitment process of the Nigeria Police Force.

The policy will ensure that breaches are promptly identified and offenders are brought to book.

A statement signed on Monday by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, Police Service Commission, also remarked that the Commission would use the ongoing admission process of the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, to test-run the new policy.

The statement warned that the Commission would deal with any person or persons, no matter how highly placed, who fall victim to the dictates of the whistleblowing policy.

The statement further indicated that the Commission has despatched a high-powered delegation to Wudil, Kano, to oversee the screening process for the 2025 Police Academy (POLAC) admission, which began today.

He listed the members of the delegation to include Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court who is representing the Judiciary in the Commission, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu, fdc, who is representing the Police, among others.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu, has urged all participants in the ongoing POLAC admission screening exercise to play by the rules to avoid facing the wrath of the Commission.

He assured that the Commission was resolved to sanitise the police recruitment process, starting from admission into POLAC, while pledging that the police institution would be proud of the products that will be sent to them.

He said also that the Commission would continue to carry along all relevant stakeholders in the search for a clean and credible recruitment process.

DIG Argungu advised state governments to show more interest in the ongoing POLAC admission processes so as to protect its quota. He noted that the Commission will continue to stand for inclusivity in its management of police personnel and called for understanding as it rejigs the system for better results. (THE SUN)
