Police arrest suspected kidnappers in Ebonyi, recover stolen vehicles

The Ebonyi State Police Command said it has recorded yet another operational breakthrough in its sustained fight against criminal elements terrorising the state.

It stated that on September 2, 2025, a credible intelligence at the disposal of the Command revealed that some suspected kidnappers had converged at Nwagana Guest House, Umuhuali, Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Promptly acting on the information, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Ebonyi State Command, stormed the hideout and arrested two male suspects; Chinedu Okorie and Okpaga Chibueze.

During the operation, one Lexus car with Registration Number LSR 895 DB was recovered from them.

Upon interrogation, the arrested suspects made useful confessional statements which led the operatives to Abuja, where two additional suspects were apprehended; Stanley Benson Agada and Joshua Noah Olatunji.

The operation also led to the recovery of four stolen vehicles, namely: Toyota Corolla with Reg. No. KWL 141 CE, Toyota Highlander Jeep with Reg. No. LSD 589 JX, Toyota Venza with Reg. No. LXR 272 JH and Toyota Sienna Bus with Reg. No. RSH 196 DF.

This is contained in a statement issued on Friday by the command’s Public Relations officer, SP Joshua Ukandu and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.

According to the statement, The rightful owners of the recovered vehicles, who had been victims of kidnapping, have positively identified their cars.

Part of the statement ready” Arrangements are underway to release the vehicles to them after due process. Investigation is still ongoing, and efforts are in top gear to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate. The arrested suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, CP Adaku Uche-Anya, reaffirms the Command’s unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminal elements and restore lasting peace and security.

She also enjoins members of the public to continue to provide timely information to the Police to aid its operations.
