Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has officially commissioned the newly constructed 13-kilometer Nzam road, headquarters of Anambra West Local Government Area of the state.
The project which was commissioned on Wednesday was a campaign promise fulfilled for the area, having been neglected for years due to lack motorable access road.
Soludo, who spoke at the local government headquarters after visiting various markets and locations, declared that the barrier has finally been overcome, allowing residents to commute on a tarred road.
He said: "This Is an emotional journey for me. I made a promise accompanied by a significant consequence during the last gubernatorial campaign. Today that promise has been fulfilled as we can now drive into Nzam in September.”
While welcoming prominent figures from the area who have chosen to join the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) political movement, the Governor likened it to a religion in the state.
Soludo stressed that his current focus is on project inspection, commissioning, and launching initiatives, adding that he is committed to an agenda with a set timeline.
His words: "We are on a mission of transformation and development, reaching out to those who have been overlooked and neglected.”
Earlier in his speech, the Commissioner for Local Government, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, cited the significant changes in the political landscape, adding that every local government area has benefited from the democratic dividends in less than four years under Governor Soludo’s administration.
Highlight of the event was the welcome of new members from other political parties who joined APGA during the event by the State Chairman of APGA, Barrister Ifeatu Obi-Okoye.
He said that the Soludo campaign train had earlier stopped at Mmiata Anam for the open air campaign.
Obi-Okoye further thanked Governor Soludo for delivering on his promise to connect Nzam.
Spaking on behalf of the new members, Chief John Ozoemena, pledged unwavering support to the party to ensure that Soludo and APGA are re-elected for another four years.
