Flybird gets NCAA’s UAV, RPAS certification

Flybird Aircraft Management Services Ltd., has announced receiving certification for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (UAV/RPAS) from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The General Manager at Flybird, Dr Tracy Wilson, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.

According to Wilson, this certification authorises Flybird to conduct UAV/RPAS operations in Nigeria, reinforcing the company’s reputation as a trusted and forward-thinking leader in aviation.

Wilson said that the milestone further reaffirmed the company’s growth trajectory.

“It further reflects Flybird’s commitment to safety, compliance, and the responsible adoption of emerging technologies,” said Wilson.

Also speaking on the certification, the Chief Executive Officer, Flybird, Capt. Ahmed Borodo said that the company’s capabilities had been expanded.

“With this approval, Flybird is poised to deploy UAV/RPAS capabilities across a wide spectrum of industries, including oil and gas, agriculture, energy, infrastructure inspection, aerial mapping, environmental monitoring, and security.

“The issuance is both a responsibility and an opportunity. It underscores our dedication to global standards of aviation safety and positions Flybird at the forefront of unmanned aviation solutions in Africa,” Borodo said.

According to him, the achievement comes as part of Flybird’s broader vision to redefine business aviation and integrated air solutions across Africa and beyond.
