Ebonyi airport staff undergo confirmation screening after two years probation

The Ebonyi State Civil Service Commission has begun screening and possible confirmation of airport staff who have completed a two year probation period, a process that has elicited broad approval among employees.

Addressing officers at the commission’s office at Centenary City, Abakaliki, Mrs Virginia Oketa, chairperson of the commission, commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his focus on employment and staff welfare, noting the recent addition of N20,000 to workers’ salaries.

Mrs Oketa encouraged staff to keep the governor and his wife in their prayers and reminded them to present original certificates for verification, warning that statements of results would not be accepted. She said the probation period is intended to assess loyalty and performance and added that appointments remain provisional until confirmation.

This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head, information department, Obinna E. l. and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.

She also urged staff to dress modestly and to conduct themselves professionally, observing that appearance influences how public servants are perceived at Okadigbo International Airport.

Following the screening, workers expressed gratitude to the governor. Ajah Nnamdi of Ishielu Local Government Area thanked Mr Nwifuru for ensuring timely payment of salaries and for creating the pathway to confirmation. Oketa Chidimma Cheryl described the governor as the best she has encountered.

Departments screened included human resources, administration and airport operations, among others.
