A United States-bound flight, which departed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos on Tuesday morning, returned to base over a medical emergency.

The flight UA613 departed Lagos for Washington D.C, but made an air return about 30 minutes into the flight due to a seizure incident by a 64-year-old male passenger onboard shortly after takeoff.

Our correspondent gathered that the medical team of the airline attended to the passenger onboard, but he “did not respond to treatment.”

The incident led to the cancellation of the flight by the airline.

The affected passengers it was gathered were booked into a hotel for accommodation, pending when the airline would airlift out of the country.

It was also learnt that the sick passenger was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention. His state of health could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report. Buy vitamins and supplements

A source close to the airline said: “The incident occurred 30 minutes into the flight. The pilot returned to base. The crew could not continue with the flight again because they had exhausted their time.

“So, the pilot had to cancel the flight for another departure date, probably on Wednesday morning. The number of onboard passengers cannot be verified, but it was almost a full flight”

No one from the airline was on hand to comment on the issue.

Also, a message and call made to the media consultant to the airline, Mr. Linden Birns was not responded to. (The Guardian, but headline rejigged)
