A 36-year-old man, Amos Danladi, was on Thursday arraigned before a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly beating his neighbour over dog’s excretion.

Danladi, who resides at Marafa, Kaduna, however pleaded not guilty to the three counts charge of assault and intentional insult.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Aug. 20 at his residence.

He said that Sarah Dogara, the complainant reported the matter at the Gabasawa Police Station, Kaduna, on the same date.

The prosecutor said the defendant who saw the complainant’s dog excrete in front of his door, started insulting her which ended in assault.

Leo said that the incident led to the defendant slapping the complainant and beating her to a pulp.

He added that the complainant was saved by neighbours who were at home, while the case was reported to the police and the defendant was arrested.

He said that the offences contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

The magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

He ordered that the surety who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court should also furnish it with evidence of two years tax payment to the Kaduna state government.

He adjourned the matter until Sept. 23, for hearing. (NAN)
