Two children, aged eight and 10, have been killed and 17 other people are injured following a school shooting in Minneapolis, police say.

The attack happened during morning Mass at Annunciation Catholic School - here's what we know so far.

The suspect was armed with a rifle, shotgun and pistol, shot through the church windows and then died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say.

The attacker has been identified by law enforcement as Robin Westman, 23, from suburban Minneapolis.

The FBI is investigating the shooting "as an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics", the agency's director says.

Of those injured, 14 are children, and two are in a critical condition.
