A statement obtained on Sunday and signed by Abdulmumin Kolo Gulani, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, announced Yakubu’s death, stating that the students’ community was deeply saddened by the tragic loss.
According to Gulani, Miss Yakubu lost her life in a tragic accident that occurred around 5:30 pm on Gujba Road near the University’s Gate, involving a tricycle popularly called ‘Keke NAPEP’ that was crushed by a vehicle.
Gulani said four other persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident, including one of the University’s matrons.
The Vice Chancellor of University, Professor Bukar Jamri in the statement stated, on behalf of the University community, extends his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.
“Amina, a promising young lady from Potiskum local government area of Yobe State, was buried according to Islamic rites,” the statement said.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the institution’s management was working closely with relevant authorities to ensure that the injured students receive necessary medical attention.
“The safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority, and we are deeply shaken by this tragic incident.
“May the soul of our dear student rest in Jannatul Fiddausi, and may her family find solace during this difficult time,” Gulani said. (LEADERSHIP)
