Final year students from engaging in signing out activities, three students have fallen victim to the rule.
Saturday Independent learnt that the university authorities banned the singing out ceremonies because of abuse by the students who littered the premises thereby making the environment untidy.
It could be recalled that UNIZIK had earlier declared an indefinite suspension of signing-off ceremonies, citing repeated cases of disorder, violence, property damage, and infiltration of unauthorized persons during such events.
According to the Registrar, Dr. Chinenye Okeke, students caught engaging in the outlawed activities risk serious disciplinary sanctions, including expulsion, while non-students could face prosecution for breach of peace.
?With this arrest, Nnamdi Azikiwe University is already enforcing the newly announced ban?, she said.
It was learnt that despite the university instruction some students who wrote their final examination on Thursday assumed the ban might not take effect immediately and gathered their friends and family to sign on their shirts.
They fell victims of the ban. A viral video showed security operatives storming a hall to arrest two young women and one young man for engaging in signing off activities despite the ban.
