ADC Chieftain, Akuma
…Condemns brutalization of corper in Anambra by Soludo’s men
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nelson Ahamefula Akuma, has said that the outcome of the by-election that was conducted in 13 states and some constituencies in the country last Saturday is not the true test of the popularity of the ruling All Progressives Congress by the Nigerian masses.
Recall that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had stated that its decisive victories in the Saturday’s legislative by-elections across the states reflected growing public approval for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka had said that the outcome of the polls was a clear endorsement of the administration’s efforts to revitalise the economy and improve key sectors of national life.
But speaking while reacting to the APC’s statement, Akuma urged Nigerians to discard the by-election and focus on 2027.
According to him, the ruling party is just hallucinating.
He said that hunger has already mobilized Nigerians to reject the ruling party in 2027.
Furthermore, he said that the ruling party was founded on lies, half –truths and propaganda, the more reason why they would say that a government that has impoverished Nigerians the most has revitalized the economy and improved key sectors of our national life.
According to him, it is a fact that since Nigeria became independent, the present administration is the worst that Nigerian people have ever seen.
His words: “After reading the statement that was issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, I had a good laugh. What came into my mind was Alice in Wonderland. Yes. That is where APC is. In 2027, they would be hit with sucker punch. Their rigging machinery would not be able to save them because hunger has already mobilized and united Nigerians and a people united can never be defeated. In fact, the real issue is going to be the welfare of Nigerians. The question is going to be, are our life better now than when they come on board. How many Nigerians are sleeping with their two eyes closed? How many Nigerians are sure of their next meal? And so on.”
According to him, the ruling party is boasting of increasing minimum wage, while Nigerian workers are now worse off than when they were receiving the old minimum wage because of high rate of inflation caused by devaluation of the naira.
He said that the number of out- of-school children had doubled under the present administration because parents could barely feed, let alone send their children to school.
He said that what happened in the by-elections would not happen in 2027.
The ADC Chieftain expressed disappointment that security agencies were used to harass and intimidate opposition members during the by-elections to fill 16 vacant state and national assembly seats across 13 states and described that as a very sad development.
On the brutalized youth corper, he said that is usually what you see when you recruit political thugs as security operatives, the more reason why some people are strongly opposing the call for state police.
According to him, the governor of Anambra State is becoming unpopular by the day because of his senseless attacks on Peter Obi.
He said that the dismissal of the vigilantes is not enough, adding that Nigerian police must ensure that justice is served so as to serve as a deterrent to others.
