Nigerian star Victor Moses, who joins Liverpool today on a season-long loan from Chelsea, is desperate to deliver for his new club, one of his mentors has disclosed.
Grassroots tactician Douglas Idahosa, who discovered the fleet-flooted winger in Nigeria, was full of happiness as he spoke with News Express this morning on the player’s move.
Coach Idahosa described Moses’ going to Liverpool as both necessary and wise as it would enable the player to gain more playing time that would have been restricted at Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.
“Given the fact that Mourinho has brought in many new players, Moses had to go to a team that would guarantee him more playing time. This would keep him in shape for Nigeria as the World Cup approaches,” Idahosa said.
He revealed that Chelsea were reluctant to let Moses join Liverpool. “Chelsea wanted him to stay. That’s the information I had. But Moses wants to taste action in Liverpool. I am sure he would come back to Chelsea an even better player at the end of his loan,” Idahosa added.
It would be recalled that News Express on Saturday broke the news of Moses’ Liverpool transfer shortly after both Chelsea and the player agreed on terms with the legendary Reds.
