Gov. Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State will launch the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme for 13,359 adolescent girls in transition classes across the state.
Alh. Ahmed Oricha, Kogi AGILE Project Coordinator, made this known in a statement on Friday in Lokoja. He said the scheme would begin on July 28.
Oricha explained that the initiative falls under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project.
The aim is to improve enrolment, retention, and smooth transition of girls through the school system.
Each beneficiary will receive N40,000 under the Conditional Cash Transfer scheme.
The breakdown includes N15,000 for registration, N25,000 for transition support, and N10,000 termly as a school attendance stipend.
The initiative seeks to remove financial obstacles and support adolescent girls’ education through targeted interventions.
“It is more than financial aid. It is a long-term investment in girls’ futures and Kogi’s development,” Oricha stated.
He stressed that every girl deserves the opportunity to stay in school and succeed in life.
Oricha called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to support the programme actively.
“With this effort, Kogi is championing girls’ education and empowering them to fulfill their potential,” he said. (NAN)
