Professors Without Borders (PWB), a non-governmental organisation, has unveiled the fourth edition of its annual Transformative Week at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Mr Oluseyi Sodiya, Senior Manager, Projects and Digital Products at PWB, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said the week-long programme engaged over 200 students and faculty members.
The theme of this year’s event was “Leadership, Innovation, and Sustainability: Empowering Digital Transformation”.
Prof. Folashade Ogunsola, Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, represented by DVC, Academic and Research, Prof. Bola Oboh said the programme represented the knowledge e’change that strengthened institutions.
“Our students benefit from global perspectives, while our faculty enhance their teaching capabilities through exposure to international methodologies.
“The five-day programme will continue through July 25, covering critical skills including social entrepreneurship, African finance, research methodology, artificial intelligence tools, and personal branding.
“All designed to enhance graduates’ readiness for Nigeria’s evolving job market”.
According to Oboh, the programme is part of Professors Without Borders’ broader five-year strategic plan to reach over 15 Nigerian universities and train over 2,000 students by 2030.
He added that It aims to directly support Nigeria’s Vision 2030 goals for economic diversification and human capital development.
Oboh further said following the UNILAG programme, the team would move to Ekiti State University from July 28 to Aug. 1 for a similar intensive programme.
“The partnership between UNILAG and PWB continues to provide our students and faculty members with invaluable exposure to global perspectives and cutting-edge skill,” he said.
He said the programme featured a diverse team of international educators working alongside local experts.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Professors Without Borders is a UK-registered charity dedicated to expanding educational access in underserved communities worldwide.
NAN also reports that since 2016, the organisation has delivered programmes across multiple universities in Europe, Asia, and Africa. (NAN)
