The lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has offered to help a homeless boy, Isaiah.

She made the offer after Nigerian blogger, Tunde Olaoluwa Adekunle, popularly known as Tunde Ednut posted the video of the boy where he was interviewed by Primifactory.

The boy was asked about the last time he attended a church service and he said he doesn’t miss both the Sunday and Midweek services despite living on the streets and not having good clothes to wear.

Narrating, he said many on the streets do not attend church services because they are considered too dirty to enter a church and they also get bounced by security guards in their attempts to enter the church.

He said he attends church services because his focus is on God and not what he wears or how he’s perceived by other members.

When asked how he started living on the streets, he narrated that he finished from the Government Secondary School, Garki, Abuja.

He said: “My dream Is to become a lawyer but my mom does not have the money to further my education.

His dream was further shattered after the government demolished the shop where his mother was trading.

He said he decided to move out and start working because he considered himself a man who could provide for himself.

When Isaiah moved to the street, he started selling fuel but he was arrested after a while by the police and his fuel was seized. He said he spent all the money he made to bail himself from Police Station.

He moved on to directing vehicles coming into filling stations to buy fuel with the hope of getting drops from motorists, and thereafter proceeded to directing traffic on the road and beg for arms with the hope of saving money to return to school.

He appealed that he would love to go back to school and complete his education.

Touched by his story, Natasha wrote: “One of my gardeners runs a distant learning programme with the University of Abuja. Young and purposeful hearts should be supported. @mazitundeednut, if he is interested in working, I can fund his education till he graduates from the university. @hamzalamisi kindly bring him to me on Monday.” (The Guardian)
