The Kano State Government has approved the appointment of Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa, as the new General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club.
Gov. Abba Yusuf approved the appointment as part of efforts to reposition the club ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Mr. Sunusi Bature.
Bature said the decision followed the expiration of the one-year tenure of the previous management board.
He said that the former board had successfully led the team to a ninth-place finish in the NPFL and that, after wider consultations with the stakeholders, most of the members were reappointed, with some strategic changes.
Mr. Ali Muhammad-Umar was retained as the Chairman of the board.
Other members of the reconstituted board included: Salisu Kosawa, Yusuf Danladi, Idris Garu, Nasiru Bello, Muhammad Ibrahim and Abdulkarim Chara.
Others were Muhammad Gwarzo, Mustapha Darma, Umar Dankura, Ahmad Musbahu, Gambo Shuaibu, Rabiu Abdullahi, Aminu Ma’alesh and Safiyanu Abdu.
Abubakar Dandago and Ismail Abba were appointed as Media Director I and II, respectively.
Bature added that in line with global best practices, the board proposed the appointment of renowned international footballer, Musa, as the General Manager of the club.
It said the appointment was a strategic move to leverage Musa’s wealth of experience and leadership in repositioning the club as a formidable contender in the league.
The government expressed confidence in the ability of the reconstituted board to deliver under the current administration. (NAN)
