Hon Chinwe Clara Nnabuife, Anambra House of Reps Member
A member of the House of Representatives from Anambra State, Hon. Chinwe Clara Nnabuife, Thursday, stated that the recent killing of 10 indigenes of Ebonyi state in Ogboji, a town in Orumba South local government area of Anambra State, was due to leadership dispute within members of the Ebonyi community.
While appealing for calm over the sad development, the lawmaker representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency of Anambra state also cautioned against misleading media reports on the incident.
Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja, Nnabuife said the attack “occurred during a meeting of members of the Ebonyi community in Ogboji, resulting in the untimely death of at least 10 persons. The victims, all of Ebonyi state extraction, were lawful residents of Ogboji and members of the Ebonyi Union.”
While condemning the act, she said; “No Nigerian citizen deserves to be murdered in cold blood under any circumstance. This is an attack on our collective humanity, and it must not go unanswered.”
She commended the Ebonyi community in Ogboji for the remarkable calm, maturity, and restraint they have exhibited in the face of such profound loss.
“Based on preliminary information gathered from survivors, eyewitnesses, community leaders, and security operatives, the incident appears to have stemmed from an internal leadership dispute within the Ebonyi Union in Ogboji,” she said. (Blueprint)
