The five Nigerians nationals arrested by the Libyan authorities
Authorities in Libya have arrested five Nigerian nationals on allegations of prostitution during a police operation in the Salmani area of Benghazi.
The arrest, carried out by the Ras Abidah Police Department, was announced on Wednesday in a statement by Migrant Rescue Watch.
According to the report, the suspects include one man and four women, one of whom was with a child.
They were apprehended during a raid on a residence allegedly used as a brothel by undocumented migrants.
The police operation followed public complaints about suspected prostitution involving migrants in the area.
All five individuals have been transferred to the Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM) for further legal action.
“Libya 20.06.25 – Ras Abidah Police Dept. in response to public complaints raided a house in Salmani area (Benghazi) used by migrants for prostitution. During op police arrested 1 male and 4 females (1 with child) of Nigerian nationality. All referred to DCIM for legal action,” Migrant Rescue Watch stated. (The Guardian)
