Yobe State students
At least 100 students have been sponsored to study abroad, while 3,500 others have received local scholarships in Yobe State.
The scholarship initiative was provided by the Senator representing Yobe South Senatorial District, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, and was distributed in Potiskum Local Government Area.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony, the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, Professor Muhammed Munkaila, disclosed that 70 students were selected to pursue Master’s and PhD programmes, while 30 will undertake Bachelor’s degrees under the foreign scholarship scheme.
He noted that the scheme is aimed at supporting female students in their final year, as well as ensuring inclusive education by providing equal opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
He added that beneficiaries of the local scholarships were selected from various federal and state universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education both within and outside the state.
Munkaila said the provision of both domestic and foreign scholarships at this critical time reaffirms the senator’s earlier pledge to uplift the lives of his constituents and promote peace and development through education. (Daily Trust)
