Rotji Lazarus, a 27-year-old resident of Gwalameji area of Bauchi, has reportedly been knocked down by a hit-and-run driver along Bauchi–Dass road in Yelwa area, 24 hours before a planned trip abroad after securing a job.
Eyewitness accounts said that Lazarus was killed at night by a moving vehicle without headlights, close to POWA shops, Police Barracks.
Our Correspondent gathered that the driver absconded after knocking Lazarus, heading towards Rafin Zurfi, Tafawa-Baleawa Road.
The deceased was a graduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, and held a postgraduate Diploma in Tourism and Leisure Management from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, in Benue State.
He was in the sale of fruit juice close to where he was knocked down in Yelwa.
Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Professor Titus Saul Ketkukah, expressed condolences to his Special Adviser, Lazarus Buba, the father of the late Lazarus.
The commissioner described Lazarus as gentle, humble, and someone who respects and obeys his parents and others. (The Guardian)
