SP Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesperson, Yobe State Police Command
A thirty-three year old man, Ibrahim Shaibu of Damboa Area, Potiskum, Yobe State, has been arrested by the state police command for allegedly molesting a nine-month-old girl.
The arrest of the suspect was made by personnel of the Potiskum Police Division acting on credible information from a concerned citizen.
According to the command’s spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the suspect allegedly took the child from her mother and committed the heinous act, leaving the child with noticeable lacerations.
The PPRO disclosed that the victim and suspect had been taken to a medical facility for thorough medical examinations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, while reacting, condemned the act and assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted and justice would be served.
He, however, urged parents to be vigilant about their children’s safety and warned potential perpetrators that stricter penalties awaited them.
