Barely a month after gunmen suspected to be armed robbers raided Silverbird Rhythm 94.7Fm in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, the private residence of the Business Manager of the station, Oyins Egrenbido, has been attacked by men in police uniform.
Daily Trust gathered that the incident which occurred around 9:30pm left family members traumatised.
It was gathered that the late-night intrusion occurred during what appeared to be a street raid that led to several arrests in the area.
Egrenbido, who strongly condemned the incident, said the trauma inflicted upon his family, especially his wife and children, is unacceptable.
He, however, stated that based on the the fact that the specific police division of the individuals involved remained unidentified, there were concerns about the legitimacy of the operation.
Egrenbido, visibly disturbed by the account, stated that while he understood that arrests may have been made, the lack of clear identification of the officers and their division is deeply troubling.
He called on all security agencies to urgently rise to the occasion and provide adequate security for law-abiding citizens.
He said It is imperative that such incidents, which undermine public trust and create fear, are thoroughly investigated, and those responsible are held accountable, adding that citizens deserve to feel safe in their homes.
When contacted, the police spokesman in Bayelsa State, DSP Musa Muhammad, said though he was out of the state for official duty, he was yet to ascertain the identified of the personnel involved in the raid. (Daily Trust: Text, Excluding Headline)
