Felix Agu
Werder Bremen defender Felix Agu has seen his market value surge to a career-high €8m, following his debut for the Super Eagles during their recent Unity Cup triumph in London, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 25-year-old full-back featured for 83 minutes in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Jamaica at the Brentford Community Stadium, helping the Super Eagles to a 5-4 victory on penalties in the final.
That performance, along with his consistent form in the Bundesliga this season, appears to have significantly boosted his profile.
Agu’s new valuation by transfermarkt, published during the ongoing international break, saw a rise in his market worth by €2m.
From a modest €600,000 in December 2023, his value leapt to €2.5m by May 27, 2024, before doubling to €4m two days later on May 29. It climbed again in December 2024 to €6m and has now peaked at €8m in June 2025.
This upward trend reflects his strong finish to the 2024/25 season, where he contributed three goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances.
Agu now ranks as the 1,280th most valuable player in the world, and number 143 in the Bundesliga. Within his club, Werder Bremen, he holds the fifth-highest valuation.
Among all Nigerian players globally, Agu is currently ranked 19th. His position-specific value also stands out, placing him 74th among all left-backs and 146th among players born in 1999.
The former Germany youth international had long been on the radar of Nigerian football authorities. After FIFA officially cleared him to represent Nigeria, the NFF confirmed his eligibility just ahead of the Unity Cup.
Coach Éric Chelle included Agu in the squad for the tournament, where the defender quickly settled in. Speaking to Werder Bremen’s official website after the event, Agu said he was warmly welcomed by his new teammates and expressed optimism about future opportunities. (PUNCH)
