Law Mefor, Anambra Commissioner for Information
The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has resolved to confiscate and seal facilities used as quarters for child beggars in the state. The decision, reached during its 10th meeting at the new government house, aligns with the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025, which mandates the closure and seizure of such premises.
Commissioner for Information, Mr. Law Mefor, explained that the initiative aims to ensure public safety and make Anambra a crime-free state. He highlighted that the Anambra Homeland Security Law underpins the state’s security efforts, including the Agunechemba security system and Operation Udo Ga-Achi (meaning “peace shall reign”), launched in January by Governor Charles Soludo’s administration.
“These security measures are focused on eradicating all forms of criminality in the state, creating an environment where people can live without fear of being disturbed by criminals,” Mefor stated.
In its fight against crime, the state has recorded significant successes, including the arrest of numerous kidnappers, demolition of hideouts, and raids in areas such as Ozubulu, Isiagu, Oba, and Nnewi. The security network has also liberated eight local councils: Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, Orumba South, and Ogbaru that were previously besieged by criminal activities.
Governor Soludo commended communities and their leaders for collaborating with his administration in tackling insecurity. He stressed that security, law, and order are integral to his administration’s vision of a livable and prosperous homeland.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to strict enforcement of the Homeland Security Law to safeguard Anambra residents and ensure sustainable peace. (The Guardian)
