Three persons were killed in a reprisal attack by suspected bandits on Tse Ojime in Tse Kweyi Village, Mbaguwen Community, Mbalagh Council Ward, Benue State, on May 29, 2025, at about 6:00 p.m.

Zagazola Makama reliably informed that the deceased were identified as Verlumum Peter Aber, Godwin Tsehumba, and Theophilus Terese, 36, all residents of Tse Kweyi Village.

According to preliminary investigations, the attack was a retaliatory response by bandits after some villagers reportedly stole cattle belonging to herders in the area.

Upon receiving information about the attack, security forces quickly mobilized to the scene and pursued the assailants.

Tensions heightened when youths from the community mobilized to the residence of Hon. Alfred Begers, Member of the Benue State House of Assembly representing North Bank Makurdi, threatening to set his house ablaze along with his family.

However, security forces, promptly intervened, dispersing the mob and rescuing the lawmaker’s family, restoring calm to the area. (Zagazola)
