MC Acapella
Popular comedian Acapella has disclosed that he received several threats after criticising Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, over his reaction to claims that Lagos smells.
The controversy began when influencer Scott Iguma made the viral comment about Lagos, prompting Wahab to accuse some individuals of tarnishing the state’s image.
Acapella accused the commissioner of applying double standards based on ethnicity and origin, sparking heated social media exchanges.
In a post on Tuesday, Acapella said he received several threats following his fallout with the commissioner.
“Over the past days, as expected, I’ve received several DMs and few calls making empty threats here and there,” Acapella revealed.
He emphasised that pointing out problems is essential to solving them, stating, “The first step to solving any problem is to first identify there’s one. We are all we have.”
Acapella stood firm in his stance, saying, “No Nigerian is more Nigerian than any other Nigerian. Don’t let anybody gaslight you into believing you are demarketing the country, especially when you point out the ills that befall us as a nation.” (Nigerian Tribune)
