China will add Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay to the list of visa-exempt countries, the Foreign Ministry said on May 15.
From June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, citizens of these five countries holding ordinary passports will be allowed to stay in China without a visa for up to 30 days for purposes of business, tourism, family visits, exchanges and transit.
"China will continue to pursue high-standard opening-up and roll out more measures to further facilitate cross-border exchanges," Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, said at a press briefing.
China's visa policies have been continuously optimized. Currently, the country grants unilateral visa-free entry to over 40 countries and has extended the transit visa-free period to 240 hours for travelers from 54 countries. (The Nation)
